Enrolled Nurse Programme

This is a two year programme that prepares the students to function as enrolled nurses in hospitals and clinics, home care facilities, factories, industries and in the community.

After graduation the student is capable of working as part of a team, under supervision of an RN, is able to use the nursing process as a tool to determine and manage nursing problems of patients. The programme which is based on the traditional model of training of enrolled nurses has been updated and modified to meet with the current trends in nursing practice. The modifications take cognizance of the fact that as the role of the nurse is expanding, and the RN assumes roles hitherto considered physician roles, the EN is also beginning to take up tasks that were formerly reserved for the RN. There also has been a shift from the module system to credit system to facilitate acreditation of prior learning for those seeking further education.

Our graduates are given education and skills that prepare them to function in primary, secondary and tertiary levels of care, as well as in both rural and urban settings, and in third world and developed countries. Since creation, we have graduated ENs
